With your support, FINCA Canada’s OppHERtunity Campaign will help prevent 120,000 women in Haiti and Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) from falling back into extreme poverty.
The United Nations anticipates that COVID-19 will reverse decades of progress made in reducing global poverty. They estimate between 110 and 150 million people will fall back into extreme poverty by the end of 2021. This surge will also widen the gender poverty gap, disproportionately pushing more women into poverty than men.
FINCA Canada has the unique opportunity to help prevent 120,000 women in Haiti and DR Congo from falling back into extreme poverty. FINCA Canada has partnered with the Government of Canada to help Haitian and Congolese women, their families and their communities economically survive through COVID-19 and form the foundation for long-term financial resilience.
This is why FINCA Canada is launching an urgent appeal—The OppHERtunity Campaign. With the backing of the Government of Canada and your support, we will help 120,000 Congolese and Haitian woman start or restart their micro-businesses by providing micro-loans, financial literacy and business training, and reducing barriers.
Every $1 donated will be matched with $4 by the Government of Canada if we can raise $1.2 million this year.
Please join us to help these hard-working, tenacious women lift themselves and their families out of poverty.
