Our History
For more than 30 years, FINCA, a successful social enterprise itself, has promoted a grassroots microfinance model of development. In this model, local entrepreneurs receive capital and training to build their ideas into businesses and make their dreams become a reality. In the process, they build livelihoods that allow them to support their families, create jobs for others, and strengthen their local economies.
Community Needs
Many communities we serve have no electricity, making it hard for children to study, or for business to stay open in the evenings. Clean and safe drinking water is scarce. Sanitation conditions are poor. There is food insecurity and poor nutrition.
Powerful Solutions
Poverty is a multifaceted challenge. Providing reliable and responsible financial services is part of our solution. We are also increasing access to life-enhancing products so that poor communities can make better investments in nutrition, education, health, and quality of life.
We seek to harness new examples of the kind of entrepreneurial spirit that built FINCA. We search for new and innovative products, services, and ideas. When combined with FINCA’s loans, these innovations can empower the people in the communities we work in, helping to overcome the challenges at the root of poverty.
